THE POINT:
We are beginning a 40 day journey to deepen our relationship skills.
FRIENDSHIPS WITH PURPOSE
- The way Jesus & the apostles made disciples is completely different than the way most of us look at “evangelism” and “church activities”.
- Jesus’ ministry was not meetings and events, it was relationships.
- Jesus deliberately chose close friends with whom he worked, ate, lived, died, and rose.
- He told us to go therefore and make disciples.
THE GREATEST COMMAND
Mark 12:29-31 (NIV)
"The most important one," answered Jesus, "is this: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one.
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.'
The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these."
40 DAY PERIODS IN THE BIBLE
Genesis 7:4 (NIV) Seven days from now I will send rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights, and I will wipe from the face of the earth every living creature I have made."
Exodus 34:28 (NIV) Moses was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights without eating bread or drinking water. And he wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant--the Ten Commandments.
Numbers 13:25 (NIV) At the end of forty days they returned from exploring the land.
Jonah 3:4 (NIV) On the first day, Jonah started into the city. He proclaimed: "Forty more days and Nineveh will be overturned."

ABOUT 40 DAYS (continued)
Mark 1:12-13 (NIV) At once the Spirit sent him out into the desert, and he was in the desert forty days, being tempted by Satan. He was with the wild animals, and angels attended him.
Acts 1:3 (NIV) After his suffering, he showed himself to these men and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God.
SIX SECTIONS
- Place the highest value on relationships
- Love as Jesus loved you
- Communicate from the heart
- As you judge, you will be judged
- Greatest are the servants
- Treating others as you want to be treated
WHAT THEN SHALL WE DO?
- Grab a book “Relationship Principles of Jesus”
- Join or start a group. Duh, going through a relationship series all by yourself kinda defeats the purpose. Hellooo!?!
- Check into Pastor Brett’s Blog on our website for insights into each day’s readings.
