Meet the Holy Spirit

THE POINT: Understanding the Person and Nature of the Holy Spirit is a necessity for the disciple of Jesus.
DON’T BE AFRAID OF THE HOLY GHOST
- The Spirit is harder to conceptualize than the Father or the Son.
- The Spirit is invisible and does everything in a supernatural way.
- While people often fear the Spirit will bring chaos and fear, His Nature is one of order, rest and peace.
- This all means we need to learn about Him MORE, not LESS.
THROUGHOUT THE BIBLE
- “Holy Spirit” is used 194 times in the Bible.
- “Spirit of God” is used 75 times.
- “By the Spirit is used 81 times.
- Numerous other references to “The Spirit”
Genesis 1:1-2 (NIV)
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
SPIRIT = Ruwach (roo'-akh); wind; breath, exhalation; life, anger, unsubstantiality; spirit,
HOVERED = Rachaph (raw-khaf'); a primitive root; to brood; to fertilize
Like air/breath, the Holy Spirit is all around us but brings life when it’s moving in and out of us.
