The Release of the Holy Spirit   THE POINT: The Holy Spirit has been poured out on us for a purpose.   JESUS PROMISED THE HOLY SPIRIT ·          Be Another Counselor ·          Teach you ·          Remind you ·          Guide you into all truth ·          Speak what He hears ·          Testify about Jesus ·          Tell you what is yet to come   THE HOLY SPIRIT IS LOOSE! Matthew 27:50-54 (NIV) And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit. At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks split. The tombs broke open and the bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. They came out of the tombs, and after Jesus' resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many people. When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, "Surely he was the Son of God!"   YOU ARE THE NEW TEMPLE 1 Corinthians 3:16-17 (NIV) Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you? If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him; for God's temple is sacred, and you are that temple. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (NIV) Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.   THEY WILL SPEAK GOD’S WORDS Acts 2:17-18 (NIV) "'In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.

THE HOLY SPIRIT WORKS Exodus 31:1-5 (NIV) Then the LORD said to Moses, "See, I have chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, ability and knowledge in all kinds of crafts-- to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, to cut and set stones, to work in wood, and to engage in all kinds of craftsmanship.   FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT TO NOT PREACH Acts 6:1-4 (NIV) In those days when the number of disciples was increasing, the Grecian Jews among them complained against the Hebraic Jews because their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution of food. So the Twelve gathered all the disciples together and said, "It would not be right for us to neglect the ministry of the word of God in order to wait on tables. Brothers, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them and will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word."   HAVE FRUIT – WILL TRAVEL Galatians 5:22-23 (NIV) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.   THE HOLY SPIRIT MOVES Greek and Hebrew words for “Spirit” both mean wind / breath / air. To be filled with the Spirit is more like a sailboat than a bucket.   GET TO KNOW THE HOLY SPIRIT ·          Ask the Holy Spirit to help you ·          Work ·          Speak ·          Have power ·          Reflect the character of God
